Black Sky Test Long Range Missile Prototype
Australian rocket company Black Sky Aerospace (BSA) has successfully launched a prototype long-range missile from the back of a privately owned Mercedes Benz Unimog.
The 3.7 meter long, 229mm diameter TM229 “Cyclone” training missile was fired remotely from a custom weapon pod, all of which were manufactured in Australia, and mounted on the back of an ex-Army truck.
Vehicle Mounted Missile Tested In Australia

In its accelerated program to develop Australian Guided Weapons and Explosive Ordnance (GWEO), BSA identified the opportunity to mount missiles to standard vehicles for extreme circumstances such as Ukraine faces today.
First Sovereign Australian Guided Weapons Launched In Queensland
Queensland rocket company Black Sky Aerospace (BSA) has successfully fired nine guided weapons from its Southern Queensland launch site, including a barrage of four units from the first of type launch POD system.
Utilising its own Australian-made solid rocket propellant, BSA is the first sovereign civilian operator to demonstrate such a capability. The launch came just as Prime Minister Anthony Albanese flagged his intention to boost the firepower of the Australian Defence Force.
Queensland Companies Safe-Guard Guided Weapons Against Cyber Attack
Two Queensland companies, space and defence rocket manufacturer Black Sky Aerospace (BSA) and digital security provider de.iterate have partnered to ensure the digital security of BSA’s guided weapons development program.
BSA and de.iterate will combine AS9100D (Quality Management Systems – for Aviation, Space, and Defence) and ISO27001 (International Standard for Information Security) to ensure the delivery of Guided Weapon capability whilst keeping technology information secure.
